FARM-TO-FORK IN THE KITCHEN

 A Culinary Journey from Garden to Table 

Bliss Farm offers a unique opportunity to learn the art of farm-to-fork cooking through hands-on classes led by both Brian and resident Chef TroyRD. These classes are designed to teach participants how to effortlessly take food straight from the garden to the table.

Each session focuses on the basics of growing, harvesting, and cooking fresh, seasonal produce. Participants not only learn practical gardening tips but also discover how to prepare and cook these fresh ingredients into delicious, wholesome meals. Chef Troy’s culinary expertise ensures that every class is an engaging experience, helping attendees develop confidence in the kitchen while making farm-fresh dishes.

 A Culinary Experience Like No Other 

Bliss Farm in Citrus Heights, CA, offers jaw-dropping open fire cooking events that celebrate Native American culinary traditions. These eloquent, immersive experiences are both a feast for the eyes and the taste buds, featuring live open fire cooking and authentic, traditional cuisine as a form of entertainment. Attendees are treated to beautifully crafted meals, cooked over an open flame, where every dish tells a story of cultural heritage and mastery of fire-based cooking techniques.

In addition to these show-stopping events, Bliss Farm also offers hands-on classes for those eager to learn the art of open fire cooking. Participants can delve into the techniques used at the farm’s legendary events, from mastering the flames to preparing dishes steeped in tradition. Classes take place onsite, but Bliss Farm’s open fire cooking is also mobile and available for hire, making it a versatile and unique culinary experience that can travel to any location.

NATIVE FRY BREAD CLASS

In addition to mastering the recipe, you’ll hear the fascinating history behind fry bread. This dish traces back to the 1800s, when Native Americans, forcibly relocated from their homelands, were given government rations like flour, salt, and lard. Out of necessity and from these simple ingredients, Native Americans crafted fry bread, a symbol of both survival and cultural identity. Today, fry bread remains a significant part of Native American culinary traditions, used in celebratory meals and gatherings. 

Join us at Bliss Farm for a hands-on, 1-hour class on how to make traditional Native American Fry Bread. In this class, you’ll learn the step-by-step process to create this delicious, golden treat, a staple in many Native American cultures.

By the end of the class, you’ll take home your own freshly made fry bread, along with the knowledge to recreate it in your kitchen. Plus, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of this humble yet meaningful food.

Three Sisters Planting Class

 May 15th

Join Bliss farm owner Brian for an enlightening class on the traditional Native American planting technique known as the "three sisters." 

Discover the synergy between corn, beans, and squash, and learn how to implement this sustainable and symbiotic gardening method in your own space. 

The first class taking place on April 24th, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Bliss Farm promises to deepen your connection to the land and the wisdom of indigenous agricultural practices.
